Expectations
As a therapist, I strive to embody empathy, acceptance, trustworthiness, hope, and flexibility. While these qualities are important, finding the right therapist involves other considerations as well.
Ethics: Ethical practice is essential. I am committed to working professionally and always prioritising your best interests as the client. I am a member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and adhere closely to their code of ethics in all aspects of my work.
The right fit: Feeling comfortable with your therapist is key to the therapeutic process. Do you feel safe exploring the issues you're seeking support for? If not, we can talk about it openly. I’m committed to helping you find the support you need—whether that’s with Prosper Counselling and Psychotherapy or by referring you to another therapist who may be a better fit.
Commitment and cost: Research shows that therapy is most effective when sessions occur weekly. While committing time and financial resources can feel daunting, I’ve consistently seen how worthwhile the investment can be. From our first session, we’ll discuss what level of commitment feels manageable for you, along with the cancellation policy and any other practical details.
